IRST Ltd was established in 1994 by Anna Henderson (the current MD) and Mike Baddeley  who is now retired from the company.  In the same year, the company took on a long term contract from the oil company BP, to train all its drivers Europe wide in the avoidance of truck rollovers.  The company acquired a portable skidpan (80m x 5m), a stability tanker with outriggers and other equipment so as to be able to move the training around Europe.

Subsequently the training was marketed to all transport companies in the UK and a base was established at Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome & Proving Ground, where IRST Ltd now has its own dedicated training area.

The IRST training courses are continually updated in order to incorporate the latest truck and trailer technology such as ESP and the Haldex trailer EB+ system.  Over the last 10 years the training has been shown on television and newspapers right across Europe.  Since 2006, IRST has mainly focused its training programmes in the UK in view of the increasing demand for training drivers in the use of new technologies and the avoidance of vehicle rollovers.
